Omarion was born Omari Ishmael Grandberry on November 12, 1984 in Inglewood, California. Omarions brothers are RandB singer O'Ryan and IMX member Marques Houston. Marques has a different mother than Omarion and O'Ryan. Omarion started his musical career as the lead singer of the boy band B2K. He joind B2K when he was 16 years old, the last mamber to join the group. After appearing in You Got Served, B2K broke up and Omarion started his solo career. Epic Records released his debut album, called simply O.

On July 7, 2005 the city of London fell victim to a series of bombing attacks. Omarion was in London at the time, although he was not near any of the bombing sites. Several hours after the attacks, the PRWireService issued the following press release: "TUG/Sony Recording Artist Omarion was in London during the tragic bombings that struck this morning. He would like his fans to pray that he has a safe trip and a safe return home. He appreciates your support." As the press release made no mention of the casualties, it was viewed as a simple marketing technique for Omarion. In fact, a public relations firm, AR PR Marketing, was the source of the press release. Shana Gilmore, Omarion's publicist, said that she had issued the release because: "He wasn't hurt or anything, but just the fact that he was there and all that." Omariion denied any connection with AR PR Marketing, and that his did not even know them or Shana Gilmore. This, despite the fact that AR PR Marketing was responsible for the release party of the album O one month earlier. Apparently, TUG/Sony had footed the costs of the publication on PRNewsWire. As a result of the incedent, many internet forums now ask its users to "pray for Omarion" in the face of other disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina.
