Richard Marx is an conteporary songwriter/ lyricsist/ singer for Chicago, Illinois. He had many slow ballad hits, but also wrote in a style similar to classic rock. He was the first solo artist ever to have his first seven singles make the top 5 in the US charts. Marx was born on the 16th of September, 1963 to a mixed Christian/ Jewish household. Richard Marx's ex-wife, Cynthia Rhodes, stared in the hit film Dirty Dancing. They have three sons.

Richard Marx has writen songs and lyrics and produced work for other artists, including Barbra Streisand, Vince Gill, Olivia Newton-John, Luther Vandross, Michael Bolton, NSYNC, and 98 Degrees. He has also sang with Donna Lewis on the Anastasia soundtrack. With the exeption of Rush Street's Hazard, Marx own work has not been largley successful.
